The following resources have been recommended to TransOhio by fellow trans people both inside and outside of Ohio, but have not necessarily been vetted.

Some organizations may also be backlogged due to current conditions and/or prioritizing resources to trans people in locations where the risks are the most earnestly dire. Please keep that in mind when submitting need requests and reaching out.

Black Trans Women Inc Sister’s Keeper program https://blacktranswomen.org/emergency-aid/

Aid is offered to black trans women in the United States to help cover unexpected emergency needs such as groceries, shelter, safe transportation and phone/utility expenses.

National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition https://blacktrans.org/

Through our national advocacy center and affiliate state chapters work daily, advocating to end poverty, discrimination in all forms and its human inequities faced in health, employment, housing and education that are rooted in systemic racism, to improve the lived experience of transgender people. 

Elevated Access: https://elevatedaccess.org/

A volunteer pilot network that flies people in private aircraft at no cost to access abortion and gender-affirming care.

Rainbow Railroad https://www.rainbowrailroad.org/ 

Helps persecuted LGBTQI+ individuals get to safety. 

Trans Rescue: https://transrescue.org/

An organization helping trans, intersex, and other people flee places where it is dangerous to be trans. They help them reach places of safety and reasonable quality of life legally and securely.

Trans Family Network: https://www.transfam.net/

Connect members of the trans community in need with people who want to support them in impactful, direct and personalized ways. Trans people, as well as the guardians of trans minors, can register their specific needs regarding financial, legal, emotional, shelter, or transportation-based support in a safe and effective way.

The Trans Formations Project https://www.transformationsproject.org/

The Trans Formations Project is a small, grassroots 501(c)(4) nonprofit dedicated to tracking and educating about the anti-trans legislative crisis currently sweeping the United States. They also run an active and large discord server that takes mutual aid requests.

Trans Lifeline: https://translifeline.org/

Trans Lifeline is a grassroots hotline and microgrants 501(c)(3) non-profit organization offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis – for the trans community, by the trans community.

An organization of volunteers growing community defense, mutual-aid, and alternative systems of care for gender diverse people.
